TB infection is not limited to only the lungs

Koforidua, Nov. 23, GNA- Mr Mathias Yeli Ahia, a student at the School of Radiography at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, has noted that Tuberculosis (TB) could affect any part of the body and not only the lungs.

The disease also leads to infertility amongst women when it affects their womb. Mr Ahia made these observation, at a lecture at the Koforidua Nursing and Midwife Training College, as part of activities marking the celebration of the School of Radiography week, on the theme:” Radiography, Effective Tool for TB Management”.

Mr Bernard Botwe also a student of the school, called for early treatment of TB to stem the spread of the disease. He said many patients were not aware that the treatment of TB is free.

Another student, Mr Jonathan Awuku said improper treatment of TB could make the virus develop resistant to drugs and make treatment difficult.
