Taxi drivers and hairdressers apply for university admission

Ho, Jan. 06, GNA-Taxi drivers and hairdressers in the Ho Municipality are among applicants seeking admission into Evangelical Presbyterian University College (EPUC) in Ho.

Mr Walter Blege, President of the College who disclosed this in an interview with Ghana News Agency in Ho on Wednesday, said about 120 qualified applicants would be offered admission in the first year beginning this month.

He said the College had adopted a flexible time table to enable such category of students to attend lectures in the evenings from 7pm – 9 pm and during weekends. Mr Blege described as “very good” the number of students seeking admission to read for the Bachelor of Science (Bsc) Business Administration, Accounting and Marketing options and “fair” for Bachelor of Science (Bsc) Agribusiness and BA (Hons) Pastoral Ministry and Church Management.

On lecturers, he said there were many qualified people in the Ho Municipality who had responded to lecture in the university and the authorities would however, recruit a very limited number of lecturers for financial reasons. Mr Blege said the university was following the requirements of the National Accreditation Board (NAB) to ensure high standards in its activities.

He said the university authorities were determined to build an 800 capacity auditorium and a three-storey lecture- hall within the next three to four years towards the development of infrastructure on its 27 hectare at Gbleve.
