Asamankese, March 17, GNA – Adamu Braimah, a taxi driver who threatened to knock down a student with his taxi, had been granted a one million-cedi bail by the Asamankese Circuit Court on Wednesday. Braimah pleaded guilty with explanation but had his plea changed to not guilty by the court and he is to re-appear on April 13.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector J. F. Idan told the court that on February 21, Braimah took his taxi to a borehole near the St Thomas Secondary-Technical School to wash.
A student, Albin Yeboah, warned him against it since the Headmaster forbade it but Braimah did not pay any heed.
The student took down the registration number of the vehicle with the intention to report to the Headmaster.
Chief Inspector Idan said the action of the student provoked the driver and he allegedly threatened to knock him down with his car if he made the report.
The student, however, was undeterred and reported the threat to the headmaster as well as his father and a report was later made to the police.
Barimah admitted that he sent his cab to the borehole to wash but stopped when he was advised against it and denied having threatened to knock down the student with the cab.
