Taxi driver drowns in Birim River

Akyem Oda (E/R), March 20, GNA – Kofi Berko, a 21 year-old taxi driver was drowned in the Birim River at Akyem Oda on Friday. The Akyem Oda Divisional Crime Officer told the Ghana News Agency that the deceased at about 1300 hours on that fateful day accompanied some friends to the riverside to swim.

He said while swimming the friends saw Berko drowning but all efforts to save him proved futile.

The body was retrieved a few hours later from the river and sent to the Akyem Oda Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy. It had since been buried.
