Taxi driver commits suicide

Akim Oda, Dec. 29, GNA – At a time when many Christians were planning to celebrate the Christmas in a grand style, a 45-year-old taxi driver Kwadwo Atta Panin allegedly chose to commit suicide in his room at Akim Oda on Christmas eve. A source close to Akim Oda Police told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that on December 24 at about 0530 hours, the deceased had a telephone call from his twin brother Kakra, resident abroad, through a communication centre.

When the centre operator went to call Panin to go and receive the call, he found him hanging in his room and raised an alarm. According to the source, a report was made to the police who went to the scene and conveyed the body to the Akim Oda Government hospital morgue.

The police are still investigating the case.
