Taxi driver arrested for rapping former girl-friend

The Nsawam Police on Sunday arrested Nelson Adams, a taxi driver of Adoagyiri in the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality for raping his former girl-friend in the bush.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at the Nsawam Police Station, Superintendent Akwasi Kamkam Boadu said on Sunday, October 26, at around 1330 hours, Adams called the former girl-friend on phone to come for her belongings since their relationship was over.

Commander Kamkam Boadu said the lady, whose name is being withheld, proceeded to Adams house and upon reaching there, Adams asked her to accompany him in his taxi to Teacher Mante before going for her belongings.

Supt Kamkam Boadu said Adam drove about two kilometres into a nearby bush from the main road, beat the girl-friend up and raped her.

The lady was seen crying, with some blood stains in her dress by some passers-by, and when Adams saw the people he attempted to run away, but the taxi fell into a ditch and he was arrested.

The situation created a scene in the Nsawam Township, while the lady was sent to the Nsawam Police Station, where she was issued with medical form and was treated and discharged at the Nsawam Government Hospital.

The Police said Adams would be prepared for court soon.
