Tarring of Afrancho-Ntiribuoho road crucial

Kumasi, July 5, GNA – Mr Sampson Adu-Poku, Assembly member for Ntiribuo Electoral Area in the Kwabre district has said that the immediate tarring of Afrancho-Ntiribuo road is very crucial considering the rugged nature of it.

He said apart from the fact that the road becomes unusable after rainfall; the main pipelines conveying water from the Barekese Dam in the Atwima-Nwabiagya district to Kumasi are exposed due to erosion. Mr Adu-Poku, who disclosed this to newsmen in Kumasi on Wednesday said the condition of the road was very serious and therefore called on the Minister of Transportation to impress on the Department of Feeder Roads to tar the road as a matter of urgency.

“We don’t have to wait for a disaster to occur before we call in the government to act, that will be a long story to tell,” he said. The Assembly member stressed that apart from being a good link to the main Kumasi-Offinso road and the Kumasi-Barekese road, tarring of the seven-kilometre road would end the perennial reshaping which does not last. He said the tarring of the road started five years ago but was abandoned without tangible reasons from the Department of Feeder Roads.
