Tarkwa Zongo polling center to close down

Mr. Kwaku Owusu Addo, Municipal Electoral Officer for Tarkwa Nsueam, has said if party agents of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) do not comport themselves, he would close down the newly created polling center and relocate it.

He said this polling center had been noted to be the most violent within the Tarkwa Nsueam District since the biometric registration exercise took off.

Mr. Owusu Addo said these polling agents including their supporters had engaged in numerous fights thereby preventing some electorates who they claimed are not residents in the Zongo community from registering.

The electoral officer, who looked upset about the situation, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview on Friday that the agents needed to request for a challenge form any time they noticed such people registering to enable the process laid down by the EC take its due course.

Mr. Owusu Addo appealed to the agents monitoring the registration exercise to observe the rules and regulations governing the exercise for peace to prevail.**
