Tarkwa-Zongo Mosque Commissioned

Tarkwa (W/R), Nov. 7, GNA- Sheik Abubakar Alkajabi, representative of the Zaatu Nidaakein, an Islamic humanitarian services society on Thursday commissioned a 187.6 million cedis mosque for the Tarkwa-Zongo community at Tarkwa.

Al-Muntada Islam, a Saudi Arabian-based non-governmental organisation (NGO), financed the mosque, which has a sitting capacity for about 1,000 worshippers.

The community provided labour on the project that took three months to complete.

Commissioning it, Sheik Alkajabi expressed the people’s gratitude to Al-Muntada for the assistance and said the project should inspire Muslims to live by the teachings of the Holy Quran.

He called on leaders of the community to work to maintain the love, unity and understanding that existed among the people, and urged them to initiate more development projects.

Alhaji Amadu Ali, chairman of the project planning committee thanked Al-Muntada and hoped similar assistance would be extended to other Muslim communities in the district.

Nana Kwamena Faibil III, former Apintohene of Wassa Fiase Traditional area, advised the community to maintain the project regularly to prolong its lifespan and keep the environment clean.
