Tarkwa: Suspects Seen in Video Abusing Two Women Arrested

A special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement team from the Ghana Police Service has taken ten people into custody after a video surfaced showing two young women being assaulted in Tarkwa in the Western Region.

Among those arrested are Eric Donkor, also known as Killer Block, 32; Yaw Gyimah, 29; and Edmond Nartey, 24. In the video, they were seen attacking the young women, including cutting through their scalp with a razor blade. Another suspect, identified only as Tawiah or Awaga, who was captured on video cutting one of the victims, is still on the run.

The remaining suspects — Steven Amu, 24; Farouk Balas, 18; Mensah Bernard, 18; Adu Baggeo, 23; Bismark Nyarko, 30; Akwesi Poku George, 18; and Oteng Alfred, 23 — were arrested for helping or enabling the attack in different ways.

The police say efforts are being made to ensure the victims receive the necessary support and care.

In a separate operation, the IGP’s Special Operations Taskforce arrested 19 people in Tamale last week over suspected drug-related activities. The suspects include five people believed to be drug dealers, 13 gang members and one individual reportedly found with a firearm and ammunition without authorisation.

The operation, which targeted drug peddlers and criminal hideouts in the Tamale metropolis, led to the recovery of quantities of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, sachets believed to contain cocaine, a single-barrel gun and 13 BB cartridges. Motorbikes suspected to be stolen, mobile phones and various electronic devices were also seized.

According to the police, all items recovered have been documented and stored safely. The suspects were taken to the Tamale Regional Police Headquarters for screening, profiling and further investigations.
