Tarkwa-Nsuaem assembly begins street lighting project

Tarkwa, June 22, GNA – Dr George Agyei, Chairman of the Works Department of the Tarkwa-Nsuaem

Municipal Assembly, said the ongoing street lighting project along the Tarkwa/Takoradi highway is

aimed at reducing road accidents. He said the project covers 20 kilometres from Ahwetieso to Liebherr junction. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview, Dr. Adjei said the project formed part of

development projects ear-marked by the assembly for the year. He said there was no modern street lighting system in Tarkwa and its surrounding communities and

the assembly decided to undertake the project as part of its development programme. Dr Adjei said improper placing of structures especially wooden stores and kiosks were hampering

the work of the contractor and that the assembly was working hard to ensure that the contractor was

not hindered. He said the assembly was also planning to extend street lights to Simpa and Dompim under the

second phase of the project.
