Tarkwa MTTU to intensify enforcement of traffic regulations

Tarkwa (W/R) Jan 24, GNA – The Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Tarkwa Divisional Police Command is to intensify the enforcement of road and traffic regulations to prevent road accidents in the area. The Divisional MTTU Commander, DSP Isaac Kwesi Sorpah, who disclosed this to GNA at Tarkwa, said the Unit would also sensitize drivers on defensive driving. He said the causes of road accidents in area as identified by the MTTU were the lack of good judgement on the part of drivers resulting in speeding, overtaking at curves, poor visibility, drunk-driving and fatigue. DSP Sorpah also cited disregard for road users by drivers, driving by unqualified persons, the lack of maintenance of vehicles and reckless driving. He advised passengers and drivers to use seatbelts and called on the public to cooperate the MTTU to prevent accidents on the roads. 24 Jan. 09
