Tarkwa Early Childhood Centre Appeals for Support

Tarkwa (W/R), Aug. 23, GNA – Parents, philanthropists, religious bodies and other stakeholders have been requested to assist the Tarkwa Presbyterian Early Childhood Development Centre to provide logistics and infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning.

Mrs Wilhelmina Empeh, Manager of the facility, who made the appeal at the Centre’s Fifth Open-Day at Tarkwa at the weekend, specifically called for assistance to enable the Centre to complete a fence wall around the centre, which had come to a standstill due to lack of funds. Mr Alphonse Opusumah, Wassa West District Director of Education, in a speech read for him, urged parents to contribute to the development of education since Government alone could not bear the burden.

He said early child education was introduced to provide firm foundation for the academic, spiritual, physical and moral development of children. Mr Opusumah said consequently, kindergartens would be attached to all primary schools under the new education policy of the Government. He appealed to teachers, politicians, traditional and religious leaders to be role models in their communities.

Mr Alex Quarm, assembly member for Brenakyim, called on Parent Teacher Associations and School Management Committees to work hard to provide assist in providing logistics for schools.

He pledged one million cedis for the upkeep of orphans at the Centre and a further 500,000 cedis in aid of on-going projects at there. Deserving pupils and staff were presented with prizes.
