Tano South spends GH¢131,000 on street naming – DCE

The Tano South District Assembly in the Brong Ahafo Region has spent about GHC131,000 on the street naming and property addressing project, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Bukari Anaba Zakari has said.

The DCE said this in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com.

This was in compliance with President John Dramani Mahama’s directive to Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief Executives to name all streets that fall under their jurisdictions by end of September 2014 or risk losing their positions.

Mr Anaba Zakari disclosed that about 50 streets have so far been named in Bechem, the district capital.

Though he conceded that the assembly has faced severe financial challenges in funding the project, he insisted that more was still expected to be done in other areas as the project has been demarcated into four zones.

Mr Zakari however, commended traditional rulers, assembly members, staff of the Assembly and other stakeholders for working tirelessly to ensure a successful exercise in the area.
