Tamso-Jerusalem-Senyakrom road completed

Tamso (W/R), May 26, GNA- Mr Emmanuel Kwesi Ayensu, District Chief Executive for Wassa West on Monday commissioned the 11.5-kilometre Tamso-Jerusalem-Senyakrom road completed at a cost of 4.8 billion cedis. The district assembly contributed 39 million cedis while the African mining Services, a Gold Mining Company and BANLAW, a Scottish mining contracting firm provided the remaining amount.

Mr. Ayensu stressed the economic importance of the road and commended the two companies for their support and said the project would enhance the social and economic activities of the people.

He said the Government is committed to the development of the rural areas in order to reduce poverty.

He said the assembly has earmarked 200 million cedis to rehabilitate a number of roads in the district.

Mr. John Watkins, General Manager of the company said the construction of the road, which took two years to complete, is a demonstration of its readiness to help improve the living standard of the people. 26 May 04
