Tamale, Jan. 09, GNA – The Concerned Citizens Association of Tamale (CCAT) and the Youth Empowerment, both pressure groups, have presented a standby generator valued at GH=A21,500 to the Tamale Teaching Hospital. The generator was bought through an appeal for funds by the CCAT last year that yielded GH=A2 2,000. Mr. Basharu Dabali, President of CCAT who presented the generator, accused the government of turning “a blind eye” on the only teaching hospital in the three northern regions and appealed to the citizens to help address problems facing the facility. He said the Northern Regional Coordinating Council and district assemblies in the region pledged to pay GH=A2 10,000 and GH=A2 2,000 respectively during the appeal for funds but they all failed to fulfil their promise. Mr. Dabali commended the Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhaji Abubakari Sumani, for contributing GH=A2 1,000 towards the purchase of the generator. Mr. Alhassan Iddrisu, regent of Dakpema in the Tamale Metropolis, called on all citizens of the north to pool resources to help rehabilitate the hospital to enable it to provide quality healthcare to the people. Madam Elizabeth Yayah, Acting Director of Nursing Services who received the generator, expressed gratitude for the donation and said the entire hospital needed rehabilitation.
