Tamale residents hail president’s dropping of S. S. Nayina

Tamale, Jan. 26, GNA – Some residents in the Tamale Metropolis, especially those within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have expressed joy about the president’s decision to drop the Northern Regional Minister, Mr Steven Sumani Nayina, and replacing him with his deputy, Mr Moses Magbenba.

They said Nayina was too arrogant, selfish and autocratic and had created divisions within the rank and file of the party in the Region and therefore deserves the dismissal.

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Tuesday sampled the views of some residents in Tamale and some executive members of the NDC. The Northern Regional Secretary of the NDC, Alhaji Umar Haruna, told the Alhaji Haruna said Mr Nayina had not been in good terms with the party’s Regional Chairman for about a year now, but was unsure if that also contributed to the Minister’s exit.

He said the President might be making the changes for improving the performance of the government and to be able to fulfill the party’s promises to Ghanaians.

Some media practitioners however urged the incoming Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Moses Magbenba, to take a cue from his predecessor and relate well with the party members, the media and the general public.
