Tamale residents express shock at President’s death

Residents of Tamale on Tuesday afternoon gathered in smaller groups in the township discussing the death of the country’s President, John Evans Atta Mills, which broke in the region late afternoon.

President Mills died on Tuesday afternoon at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

Residents in Tamale expressed shock at the news whiles those who could not hold back their emotions shed tears. Others in grief, described the news as a sad day for the country.

Some who could not believe the story tuned to local radio stations using their mobile phones to monitor live reports from partner radio stations in Accra to confirm it for themselves.

Speaking with the Ghana News Agency, many residents were not happy that the death of the President was announced just moments after his death, saying it could have been delayed for at least a day.**
