Tamale Polytechnic outdoors Strategic Development Plan

Tamale, June 17, GNA – A four-year Strategic Development Plan that would better position the Tamale Polytechnic to meet emerging challenges in tertiary education was launched on Tuesday in Tamale. Speaking at launch, Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, Northern Regional Minister said development was a collective responsibility and as a result ideas from students, staff and the general public could play vital roles in the shaping the overall development agenda. He urged tertiary institutions not to neglect student bodies’ concerns in decision making process.

Alhaji Idris expressed his gratitude to the managers of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) for the various projects they have undertaken on the Polytechnic campus. It, however, appealed to the Fund managers to also address the accommodation problems facing both students and lecturers at the Polytechnic.

Alhaji Idris urged the students to serve as peace ambassadors in their various communities adding, “We cannot eradicate poverty, deprivation and disease, if there is no peace in this part of Ghana”. He commended the Polytechnic for coming out with the development plan, which he said would prepare a navigation chart to enhance the development of the institution.

Alhaji Y.S. Peligah, Rector of the Polytechnic noted that, the Strategic Development Plan outlined a shared vision, mission and set of objectives that were currently relevant to the development of the Polytechnic in the years ahead. He said the Plan was opened to all stakeholders within and outside the polytechnic to make an input.

“We invite industry, non-governmental organisations and individuals to study it and share in our vision to make the polytechnic a place for excellence in learning,” he said.
