Tamale Polytechnic gets new rector

Dr. Abdulai Salifu Asuro, the new Rector of the Tamale Polytechnic has promised to champion quality education through an open door policy devoid of nepotism, prejudice and sectionalism.

He indicated that his major priority would be the development and motivation of staff, which he said he would pursue vigorously in order to bring the best in them to facilitate quality education.

The rector was sworn into office at the weekend and takes over from Dr. Yakubu S. Peligah, who served the school for four years.

According to Dr. Asuro, despite the huge investment on the part of government in developing infrastructure, Tamale Polytechnic still lags behind other polytechnics in the country.

Dr. Seidu Mohammed Mustapha, Chairman of the Governing Council of the Polytechnic, expressed delight that for the first time, the school had been able to find a rector from within.

He noted that, the new rector having worked with the Polytechnic for the past 12 years, knows very well the challenges and opportunities of the school and urged him to address them.

The outgoing rector of the School Dr. Peligah stated that, examination malpractices which use to be a major concern of the school is gradually becoming a thing of the past.

He urged the new rector to be bold and stir the course of the school in order to achieve his aims.**
