Tamale North Constituency of NDC retains Alhaji Sumani

Tamale, June 22, GNA – Alhaji Abukari Sumani, a legal practitioner and MP for Tamale North, was on Sunday endorsed by popular acclamation as the Party’s parliamentary candidate for Election 2004 at the Constituency Delegates’ Conference in Tamale.

Alhaji Sumani was the sole candidate at the close of nominations as he was the only one who had filed his papers.

He expressed his gratitude to the delegates and supporters of the Party for the confidence in him and appealed to them to support him to retain the seat.

Alhaji Sumani urged supporters of the NDC to stop identifying themselves as belonging to either the “Mills or Botchwey camp”, saying: “We are all now solidly behind Professor Atta Mills as our Flag Bearer and Former President Jerry John Rawlings as the founder and leader of the Party”.

Alhaji Mohammed Mahamoud, Constituency Chairman, commended the delegates for comporting themselves during the conference and asked them to go back to their areas and start serious campaigning for the parliamentary candidate to enable him to retain the seat.
