Tamale Metro supports vocational education

Tamale, Feb. 8, (Kwode), GNA – The Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executi= ve, Alhaji Abdulai Haruna Friday, has re-affirmed government’s determination to invest heavily in education including support to vocational and technical institutions. Alhaji Friday said this during a presentation of technical equipments to the Dabokpa Technical Institute in Tamale on Tuesday. The equipment, which include combine surfacer and thicknesser, multicing machine and bench saw were to aid the students gain more professional knowledge and skills in their areas of specialty. The MCE said the Assembly had spent a total of GHc1.7 million in the provision of classroom equipment, teachers’ quarters and sponsoring of students in basic, second-circle and tertiary institutions. Mr. J. B. Atuguba, the Tamale Metropolitan Coordinator Director, said the Assembly was determined to do away with the shift system of education i= n the Metropolis adding that schools under trees would soon be a thing of the past. He said 48 communities of the Metropolis within the peri-urban areas would also be connected to the national electricity grid as part of government’s policy of spreading development across the country. The Headmaster of Dabokpa Technical Institute Mr. Winston Kwaku Dogbey, commended the assembly for its support and urged other organisation= s to support the school.
