Tamale marks 56th independence anniversary

The 56th independence anniversary celebration in Tamale was climaxed by a march pass staged by a contingent of 1,800 security services, students and voluntary organizations who treated the audience to a beautiful display of parade skills.

The media was not left out as they created a hilarious moment by participating in the march pass with their pens and cameras attracting audience attention.

Moses Bukari Mabengba, the Caretaker Northern Regional Minister who took the salute commended the chiefs and people of the Northern Region for cooperating fully with him during the years.

The regional minister also presented President Mahama’s anniversary address to the people, urging them to forge a common understanding in promoting peace towards building a better Ghana.

He entrusted the responsibility of the state to the people and called on them to make meaningful contributions towards the growth of the economy.

He said the present generation’s wars against ignorance, disease and illiteracy were far from over, adding that though the nation won the battle for political emancipation it was still confronted with economic problems.

It was also burdened with major energy and water crisis, a situation the government was committed to fix.

Schools and groups that performed well during the parade were awarded with plaques and certificates.
