“Talk to Your Fans!” — Samini Blasts Stonebwoy Over Afro Dancehall Debate

Samini has publicly called on Stonebwoy to address what he describes as growing disrespect from his fans regarding the origins of the Afro Dancehall genre.

In a series of strongly worded posts on X, the legendary “Linda” hitmaker pushed back against suggestions that he had no significant role in shaping the sound now widely referred to as Afro Dancehall.

“Put some respect on my name G. SMH I blame @stonebwoy,” Samini posted, reacting to comments from a fan who downplayed his contributions.

He further called on his former protégé to speak to his supporters before tensions escalate.

“Massa talk to your fans oooo,” he warned, adding that false narratives were fueling unnecessary division.

Responding to claims that he did little to promote Afro Dancehall, Samini detailed his foundational work in the genre and revealed his early support for Stonebwoy’s rise.

“I’ve always represented African Dancehall my guy. I inspired @shattawalegh to start looking this way lol. Cus I directed and put out @stonebwoy first album and it was a hit lol,” he stated.

The veteran musician clarified that he has never claimed to have created Afro Dancehall but emphasized that it stemmed from the African Dancehall style he championed—one that fused Ghanaian dialects with Jamaican patois.

“I’d be lame to claim #Afrodancehall. I saw and inspired it into being with my #Africandancehall… #Africandancehall birthed #Afrodancehall,” he said, noting that producer JMJ could back his claim.

Samini stressed that while he often defends Stonebwoy publicly, he won’t hesitate to speak out if the disrespect continues.
