Talensi-Nabdam Education Directorate awards teachers

Tongo, (U/E), Dec. 24, GNA- The Talensi-Naddam District Education Directorate, organised a teachers’ day at Tongo in the Upper East Region, to award teachers and organizations for their contribution to the development of education in the District. The beneficiaries’ teachers took home bicycles, refrigerators, television sets and gas cockers. Action Aid International Ghana and Link Community Development among other organizations received certificates. Nineteen schools were also presented with a bicycle each to facility academic work.

Presenting the items to the beneficiaries, Mr. Francis Ayaba, the District Director of Education, said the gesture was to show appreciation for the hard work and assistance of the teachers and organisations and appealed to them to continue with their good work. He noted that education was crucial to national development and urged all stakeholders in the sector to collaborate efforts to ensure quality education.

Mr. Fuseini Alhassan, the District Coordinating Director, said the District was sponsoring more teacher trainees in teacher training colleges to augment the teaching staff in the area. He said the assembly was also building more schools in to improve education in the district.
