Takoradi roads to be improved

Mr. Charles Adubofour, Western Regional Maintenance Manager of the Ghana Highways Authority (GHA), has said government is in the process of executing oil enclave roads in the region.

He said roads earmarked for the enclave included Princess Town Junction-Princess Town, Agona Junction-Dixcove, Sankoff-Cape Three Points, Mpataba Junction-Half Assini-Jewi Wharf, Jewi Wharf-New Town, Bonyere Junction-Bonyere and Busua Junction-Busua roads.

He said all the roads would be asphalted saying, work on the roads are expected to begin this year as they await for final approval.

Mr. Adubofour said all gravel trunk roads in the region have been awarded on contract for re-shaping and improvement.

He said some 924 kilometers of trunk roads are involved and work on the roads is to start immediately and the contractors who have been issued with letters of acceptance are expected to keep the roads motorable for one and a half years.

Mr. Adubofour said roads to be re-shaped are in the Takoradi, Tarkwa and Sefwi Wiawso areas.**
