Takoradi Port is 75 years on November 17

Takoradi, October 17, GNA- The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) is to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Takoradi Port from November 17 to December 6.

Mr N. P. Galley, Director of the Port said this at a press briefing at Takoradi on Wednesday.

Mr Galley said the celebrations would commence with the launching of the anniversary with photo exhibition float through the principal streets of Takoradi.

He said this would be followed on Tuesday, November 18 with a Business Forum, adding that there would be an educational programme on the harmful effects of stowaways and other offences through lectures by the judiciary.

Mr Galley said there would also be an Open Day and tour of the harbour by the press.

Other activities, he said, would include Inter-port Anniversary games and a special day with retired staff of the GPHA. Mr Galley said the anniversary would be rounded-off with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, December 6.

He said an eight-member planning committee has been set up under the chairmanship of Mr Kumi Adjei Sam, a management staff to see to the successful celebration of the occasion.
