Takoradi Polytechnic signs agreement for hostel facility

The Takoradi Polytechnic has signed an agreement with the CIC/BSY Hostels Limited for the construction of a five-million-dollar hostel to ease accommodation problems in the school.

The signing of the agreement meant that the CIC/BYS Hostels Limited would provide over 1000 small housing units within two and a half years to be given out as hostels to students of the polytechnic.

Mr Emmanuel Okumi Andoh, Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, in a commitment letter to the company, said: “We as a school are prepared to support in ensuring the successful implementation of the project.”

He said the polytechnic was ready for the conversion into a technical university and that the facility came in handy to solve accommodation issues that students had had to go through.

A copy of the agreement letter sent to the Ghana News Agency read; “We think the project is a timely intervention in the life of the Polytechnic and education in the country.”

Already the polytechnic has made available two separate sites comprising four acres of land for the developers to choose the one suitable for the project which is expected to be completed in September 2016.

When this laudable eight storey project becomes successful, students would have access to single, double and four in one rooms comparable to any international hostel.

Mr Okumi prayed that the company adhered to all the requests in the agreement between the two parties.
