Takoradi MP calls for revision of District Assembly Law

Takoradi June 15, GNA – Mr Kwabena Okyere-Darko, Member of Parliament for Takoradi, has expressed the need for the amendment of the District Assembly Law to enable candidates for the impending district assembly elections to contest on political platforms. This he said would facilitate the local government machinery, which in his view is no longer apolitical.

Mr Okyere-Darko was speaking at the inauguration of a number of offices for the Takoradi Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He urged members of the NPP, who have not registered as voters to take advantage of the revision of the voters register to kick out the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2012. Mr Okyere-Darko said the NPP intends to wrest political power from the NDC to free the country from mal administration.
