Takoradi Fans Turn on Black Sherif Over 10-Hour Delay

Black Sherif was met with jeers and water sachets from angry fans in Takoradi after arriving nearly 10 hours late for a much-anticipated concert.

The award-winning artiste was billed to perform at a show scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM on Saturday, 21 June 2025, but did not appear on stage until 5:00 AM the following morning. By the time he arrived, frustration had boiled over among the crowd, many of whom had travelled long distances and waited overnight.

Patrons say the mood in the venue shifted from excitement to outrage, with several attendees expressing their disappointment through chants and pelting the artiste with sachets of water during his brief 30-minute set.

“He’s a big artiste and we love him, but this is pure disrespect,” a visibly upset fan said. “Some of us came here at 6 PM. How do you show up at 5 AM and act like nothing happened?”

Though Black Sherif took the stage and attempted to deliver a performance, the reaction from the crowd made it clear that the delay had soured the event beyond repair.

Another attendee added, “We’ve supported him from day one. This was his first show here, and this is what we get? He should know we deserve better.”

The organizers of the event have not released a statement explaining the reason for the delay, nor has the artiste publicly addressed the backlash as of press time.

The incident has since sparked discussions on social media about accountability among top-tier performers and the treatment of fans, particularly outside Accra.

Black Sherif, known for his emotionally charged hits and energetic performances, remains one of the country’s most celebrated music talents. However, Saturday’s incident in Takoradi has left a bitter taste in the mouths of fans who expected more than an overnight wait and a short performance.
