Take advantage of fee-free education to send children to school

Assin Bereku, July 21, GNA – The Assin District Chief Executive, Mr Kwabena Karikari-Apau, has appealed to parents in the Assin area to take advantage of the fee-free education package for 40 most deprived districts in the country to send their children to school. He said pupils in 40 districts in the Central, Upper East, Upper West and Northern regions, classified as most deprived, would not pay any school fees at the basic level.

Mr Karikari-Apau, who spoke to the GNA in an interview, said it was wrong for any school head to send home any pupil for school fees. He said brilliant but needy pupils, apart from not paying fees, would also be provided with school uniforms, books and other learning materials.

The DCE appealed to parents to make use of the facility and ensure that all their children of school going age, particularly the girl-child, are in school to enable the programme to achieve its objective of education for all by 2015.
