Tain District Electoral Office gutted by fire

Sunyani Dec 12, GNA – The Tain District Electoral Office was gutted by fire on Thursday and the staff have been invited by the police to assist in investigations.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Seth Charles Oteng, Brong Ahafo Regional Police Commander, confirmed the incident to the GNA in Sunyani on Friday.

He said no arrest had been made but the Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Charles Domanbay and the Deputy Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr. James Arthur Yeboah had gone to Nsawkaw to assess the situation.

In another development, fire broke out at the Brong-Ahafo Regional Office of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Sunyani on Friday. Property destroyed included plastic panel ceiling, television set, chairs, air-conditioners, official documents and plywood partitioning worth about GHC 3000.

Mr. Kwasi Baffour-Awuah, Sunyani Municipal Fire Officer, told the He said “We immediately dispatched personnel with fire tender and an ambulance to the scene” adding that interruption of electric power might have caused the fire. Mr. Baffour-Awuah said it took the personnel about 30 minutes to quench the fire. 12 Dec. 08
