Tain DCE denies threat to drag NPP to court

The District Chief Executive for Tain in the Brong-Ahafo Region, Hon. Jones Tawiah, has denied threatening to arrest a member of the NPP communication team for Wenchi, Kwame Sara Mensah, for describing him as a liar on radio.

The DCE had allegedly told Wenchi based Royals FM during an interview on Tuesday that the NPP administration left a MASLOC debt of GH¢1.9 million.

But the NPP communications team member on Wednesday rebutted the claims of the DCE saying that the total MASLOC funds for the district was GH¢395,000GH and wondered how the NPP could have incurred a debt of GH¢1.9 as claimed by the DCE.

He described the DCE as a liar because the figure he put out was far from the actual figure and urged him to avoid throwing dust into the eye of the public.

It was after the assertion by Sara Mensah that the apparently infuriated Hon. Tawiah called into the studio and allegedly threatened to haul the NPP activist before court for describing him a s a liar.

The NPP activist claimed the DCE described him as a stupid man for daring to challenge him on radio.

But when our News Editor contacted Hon. Tawiah on phone Wednesday afternoon, he denied ever threatening to drag Sara Mensah to court. He said he has a huge responsibility and would not like to be destructed from executing his mandate as the DCE for the area.

He pointed out that he has documents in his possession to buttress his claim, and that he did not say the MASLOC debt the NPP left was 1.9 million but rather said “it was in region of 1.9 million”.
