Tafohene calls for unity and development

Osabarima Adusei Peasah the Fourth, the Akyem Tafohene, has urged the people of Akyem Tafo to stop backbiting, and pool their resources together for the development of the area.

He warned that backbiting and disunity could draw back the progress of the town, which had many developmental and infrastructural challenges that needed to be addressed.

Osabarima Peasah was speaking at the celebration of this year’s Ohumkan Festival of the chiefs and people of Tafo, and the 30th anniversary of his enstoolment as the Tafohene, on the theme: ‘’Unity for Development,’’ at Akyem Tafo.

He urged government to probe the recent leakage of the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) by some irresponsible West African Examinations Council (WAEC) officials, who, due to their selfish interests, had caused innocent parents and students to go through trauma.

Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere, the Eastern Regional Minister, urged the people to use the festival to foster peace and unity among themselves, and expressed the hope that with such attitude, the dream of building a united and formidable community would be achieved.

He urged parents to invest in their wards’ education, because it was the only legacy that they could bequeath to their children.

Mr Antwi-Boasiako urged the people to put in extra efforts to keep the environment clean, to prevent the outbreak of diseases during the raining season.

He disclosed that contract had been awarded for the re-construction of the Koforidua-Bunso road at the cost of GH¢32 million.
