Tafo Town Council initiates more development programmes

Kumasi, June 30, GNA – The Tafo Town Council in the Kumasi Metropolis has set up an eight-member task force to assist the police to check drivers and other road users on the Tafo-Mampong road. The Council has also provided a lorry park at Tafo to accommodate all commercial vehicles.

Mr Francis Ampadu, Assemblyman for Tafo Ahenbronum Electoral Area, said this at a press conference at Tafo on Wednesday to throw light on efforts the council is making to improve the conditions of the people in the area. He said the council had provided streetlights from Wesley Girls High to Adabraka.

The council has also embarked on an exercise to keep the environment clean as part of efforts to improve sanitation and cleanliness and appealed to the residents to give their support. In furtherance of this the council has employed 16 labourers to keep the streets and gutters clean at all times.

Nana Afua Konadu-Yiadom, Chairperson of the Council, said the council had provided dustbins at vantage points as well as public toilet facilities in all communities under its jurisdiction. She assured residents that efforts would be made to rehabilitate existing public toilets.

Nana Konadu-Yiadom said the council would soon start house-to-house collection of garbage and appealed to the residents to co-operate with the council to ensure the success of the operation.
