Kumasi, Jan 17, GNA- A non-denominational thanksgiving service was held at Tafo in the Kumasi Metropolis on Sunday for the success of Election 2004.
The various political parties, Christians, Muslims and traditional rulers attended the service.
Preaching the sermon, the Reverend Odame Asare, Superintendent Minister in-charge of the Presbyterian Church at Tafo, said peace and stability were the most important ingredients in the development of every country.
He noted that the peaceful manner the elections were conducted indicated that Ghanaians had become politically matured in their efforts to entrench the country’s democratic process. Rev Asare said the Positive Change Chapter Two of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would achieve meaningful results if politicians work harder in the discharge of their duties.
Mr Sam Cudjoe, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NPP, said politics was about development and therefore asked the people to bury their differences and gear their efforts towards the development of the constituency.
Dr Anthony Osei Akoto Member of Parliament for Tafo pledged his commitment towards efforts to extend water, electricity and educational facilities to the area.
The MP called for unity and cooperation among constituents to ensure accelerated development.
