SYLiF screens 4,000 liver related diseases in Accra

Accra, Oct. 19, GNA – Save Your Liver Foundation (SYLif), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), on Saturday screened about 4000 inhabitants of Dome, s suburb of Accra on Liver related diseases. The people were screened for free for diseases such as jaundice, hepatitis, diabetes, stroke, arthritis and liver detoxification. The exercise was undertaken in collaboration with Lord Health Care, a Herbal clinic.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency during the exercise, Mr Dickson Adom, an ambassador of SYLiF, said the NGO intended to establish partnership with corporate bodies to educate the public on their liver as part of their social responsibilities. He said the screening under the “Me Yonko Brebuo” Project, was part of a global advocacy network to integrate liver education in public health programmes in Ghana.

Mr Adom said the NGO would ensure the creation of an enabling environment for donor support for the development and growth of liver related organizations and establish a research centre for information, education and communication.

He said SYLiF would establish screening services for Hepatitis ‘B’ and Liver Function Tests (LFTs) and set up treatment centres to facilitate the adoption of liver friendly policies in Ghana. Mr Joshua Kwasi Boakye Dankwa, Supervisor of Lord Health Care called on the people to take advantage of the massaging, detoxification and other facilities at the health centre to ensure their well-being. He said 3,000 people would be screened at a similar exercise on Sunday, at Ashiaman, near Tema.
