Swedru Assembly members undertake peace walk

Agona Swedru, Jan 1, GNA – Members of the Agona District Assembly from Swedru town, on the morning of new-year’s day undertook a peace walk through the principal streets of the district capital. The total of 10 out of the 14 Assembly Members who took part in the walk, which was also to create awareness on the need to keep environmental cleanliness started from the premises of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) through the communities ended at the Oda-Swedru main road.

Speaking to the GNA after the three hours walk, Mr S A Dadzie, Assemblyman for Nsusososu, appealed to the people to take sanitation as their top priority to avert communicable diseases He stated that the Assembly would work tirelessly to improve the standard of living of the people this year.

Mr Dadzie who is also the Convener of Environmental Sub-Committee of the Assembly said the members would co=3Doperate with the administrators of the District Assembly especially the new District Chief Executive to be appointed by the President and District Coordinating Director to ensure the development of the area.

He called for the co-operation and understanding of the Chiefs, opinion leaders and the people to ensure more development and progress of the area than the previous years.

Mr Dadzie announced that the Assembly would intensify its work especially in the area of environmental sanitation, education, health and social services. He appealed to the administrators of the Assembly to operate an open door policy since the people’s expectations for the new-year were very high
