Accra, Aug. 7, GNA – The Most Reverend Dr Robert Aboagye-Mensah, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, has called on Christians to forgive people who would offend them to ensure the growth and the development of the church.
He said such Christian value would ensure unity and physical healing and serve as a shield against enemies. Rev. Aboagye-Mensah made the call at the opening of the Sixth Triennial conference of the Susanna Wesley Mission Auxiliary of the Methodist Church, Ghana in Accra on Friday.
About 1,000 delegates were attending the four-day conference which was on the theme “Holy Spirit Empower Us for your work”. The Most Rev. Aboagye-Mensah said: “You wake up in the morning and you begin to think about the person who offended you and might even fall into a pit. if you are empowered by the Holy Spirit, it would be easy for you to forgive”.
He charged Christians to bring up their children in the fear of the Lord to enable them to become useful citizens. The Most Rev. Aboagye-Mensah expressed the hope that participants would use knowledge that would be acquired at the conference to the benefit of the society.
Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsuru III, La Mantse, praised the Methodist Church for its role in training Ghanaian women to occupy respectable positions in society.
He urged women to love one another to enable them to move the mission forward.
Madam Araba Ata Sam, a member of the Church, called on the participants to contribute to the development of the Church.
