Suspected robber lynched in sunyani

A suspected armed robber believed to be in his 30s was lynched yesterday at Abesim, near Sunyani in Brong Ahafo Region.

The body of the unidentified man has since been deposited at the mortuary of the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital while the police continue investigation into the incident.

Residents at Abesim (Dominance Electoral Area), where the man was killed at about 2am, claimed they heard the shouts of a thief.

Assembly member of the area, Joshua Owusu Akonor, told the media that he spotted the lifeless body of the suspected thief at about 4am.

There were machete wounds on the arms and legs of the suspect, whose head was smashed with concrete blocks.

His pair of trousers had been removed to expose his male organ, and there was a pair of scissors beside the body.

According to some residents, who spoke to DAILY GUIDE, criminal activities such as theft had increased in the area.

The police have failed to effectively patrol the area so the people have taken the law into their hands, they declared.
