The Tema Circuit Court ‘A’ on Thursday remanded Godwin Quarshie, an unemployed resident of Ashaiman, for two weeks for allegedly possessing dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp.
Quarshie pleaded not guilty to the charge of possessing Indian Hemp, and was subsequently remanded to re-appear in court on May 28.
The court presided over by Mr Kyei Barfo, heard from the prosecution that the accused person was among land guards operating at Kubekro, Katamanso and its environs, and was therefore on the wanted list of the Tema Regional Police Command.
Police Inspector Samuel Dadzie, said upon a tip-off, the Police arrested Quarshie at his residence at Jericho, a suburb of Ashaiman.
According to Inspector Dadzie, upon a search of Quarshie’s residence, the Police retrieved one parcel and three wrappers of dried leaves, suspected to be Indian Hemp.
The exhibit is yet to be sent for police forensic test, the prosecution added.**
