Two men have been captured on video being whipped for allegedly stealing a fowl.
The men were made to lie prostrate on a bench while two men, one wielding a piece of wood and the other a cane, flogged their buttocks as punishment for the alleged offence as others looked on.
The first victim is heard in the video pleading for mercy while screaming in pain, saying: “I didn’t know he stole it. He said he brought it from home.” His punisher is heard asking him if the other alleged thief reared fowls in his home.
The second victim’s hands and legs were held by a group of guys as he couldn’t contain the pain from being whipped and kept falling off the bench.
This comes only a few weeks after a lady, alleged to have stolen an item at Kejetia in Kumasi, was caught, stripped naked and brutally assaulted by a mob.
The police administration, following the incident in the Garden City, warned that it would arrest and prosecute members of the public who subject suspected criminals to instant justice.
