Suspected armed robbers invade nurses’ dormitory

Suspected armed robbers allegedly attacked some nurses at the Nursing Training College at Penkwase near Sunyani, some of the nurses told the GNA.

They said on the night of September 14, the robbers entered one of the girls’ dormitories and ordered them to bring out their mobile phones and monies.

One of the girls sneaked out and shouted for assistance, but the robbers escaped with the items before some of the boys arrived.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), confirmed the incident to the GNA and said no arrests had been made.

He said police investigations revealed that the girls failed to lock the metal gate at the entrance of the dormitory and the armed robbers took advantage and entered their room.

ASP Tawiah advised the general public to be security conscious because the police cannot be available at all places to prevent crime.
