Suspected armed robber remanded

Sekondi, June 11, GNA – Ibrahim Adamu, a 23-year-old driver was on Thursday remanded in prison custody by a Sekondi High Court for unlawful entry, causing harm and attempted robbery.

He pleaded not guilty to unlawful entry and causing harm, but guilty to the charge of attempted robbery. He would re-appear before the court on Monday June 14.

Prosecuting, Mr. Sam P. Akuffo, a State Attorney told the court presided over by Mr Justice Clemence J. Honyenugah that the suspect was spotted on April 20, this year around 0200 hours by one Stephen Anim from a rooftop at Kwesiminstim.

He said the suspect allegedly burnt the mosquito netting of the main door and the windows of Jamilatu Sulemana, a second year student of the Takoradi Secondary School and attempted to enter the room, but on hearing shouts of thief, thief, he fled.

The prosecutor said Anim, who had by then descended attempted to arrest the suspect but he was stabbed in the shoulder with a scissors. Mr. Akuffo said the suspect was however arrested a few metres away from the house.
