Suspected armed robber arrested by police

One suspected member of an armed robbery gang, who together with the gang allegedly raped and robbed some female students of the Health Assistants and Midwifery Training School at Dunkwa-On-Offin at gunpoint, is in the grips of the police.

The accomplices of Evans Bugri managed to escape, and made away with mobile phones, laptops and undisclosed cash amounts, but the police say they are being hunted.

Police Superintendent Dela Djansi, told the Ghana News Agency that this happened at 0500 hours at the dawn of Friday October 17, when after a power outage, the gang wielding locally- manufactured pistols besieged the girls’ hostel and committed the dastardly act.

Evans, however, run out of luck when some of the ladies regrouped, mustered courage, arrested and severely beat him up whiles the others whose number the police could not give, slipped away with the booty.

Superintendent Djansi said the police moved in immediately they received the reports, and rushed Evans to the Dunkwa Government Hospital where he has been admitted and receiving treatment under a 24-hour police guard.
