Suspect killed in bank robbery attack

An armed robber has been shot dead following a fire exchange with the Police during a bank robbery attack at Somanya in the Eastern region.

The robbers, four in number, attempted to break into the Manya Krobo Klo Rural Bank during the early hours of Sunday.

According to the Somanya Police Commander ASP Isaac Otsin, the police received a distress call that the robbers were attacking the bank at about 2:55am. He said he quickly dispatched men to the location and the operation was foiled after an intense gun battle.

He, however, added that the three other accomplices managed to escape, but a man-hunt has been launched to trace them.

According to Starr News’ Kojo Ansah, the body of the deceased is yet to be conveyed to the morgue.
