The Adabraka District Court has remanded Bright Aweh, the suspect believed to be connected to the murder of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah, into police custody for two weeks.

Aweh, thought to be the last person Amoah contacted before his disappearance, appeared before the court on August 8, 2025.

The prosecution requested a remand warrant renewal, citing new information that has come to light during the investigation.

The court granted the request and adjourned the case to August 22, 2025, to allow the police to continue their investigation.

Amoah, 38, was reported missing on July 3 after leaving home to meet a friend at Ashongman Estate.

Tragically, his partially burnt body was discovered five days later at Abuom Junction, near Kwabenya. Initially treated as a kidnapping case, the investigation has since been reclassified as murder and transferred to the Adabraka District Court.

The Criminal Investigation Department has revealed disturbing details surrounding the murder, and Aweh has been formally charged with the crime.

Meanwhile, the police says it is working to gather more evidence and build a strong case against the suspect.
