Surveyor charged with forgery

A 44-year Quantity Surveyor was on Tuesday charged for allegedly forging the letter head of Mobile Communications Network (MTN) Ghana, a telecommunication company, to swindle one Mr Oduro Kwarteng of GH¢17,000.00.

Gustav Daniel Botwe was put before a Kumasi Circuit Court, charged with fraud and forgery.

He pleaded not guilty and was remanded into police custody to make his next appearance on Monday, August 18.

The accused had convinced the victim, Mr Kwarteng, that he could secure him a contract from MTN.

Police Inspector Gulliver Kwabena Tenkorang told the court presided over by Mr William Boampong that Botwe later presented false documentations on forged letterheads of the Supply and Procurement Departments of the MTN to the complainant, leading to his arrest.

The accused in his caution statement confessed to the crime.
