Accra, Feb. 16, GNA – Mr Jonathan Ashong, a 77 year-old surveyor, said to be unlicensed, who was allegedly hired by landguards to re-demarcate portions of land already acquired by developers at Asabahan, near Ngleshei-Amanfro, in the Ga District, bringing in its wake conflicts and clashes between the various feuding factions, was on Wednesday arrested by the police in Accra.
A source at the Regional Police Command in Accra told the Ghana News Agency that police had received a series of complaints from a number of land developers in the area with title deeds issued by the Lands Commission that their parcels of land had been encroached upon through Mr Ashong’s activities.
The source said the developers had alleged that the landguards were harassing their workers and preventing them from undertaking any development on parcels of land they had genuinely and legally acquired. Meanwhile the police have mounted a search to arrest four persons who allegedly hired Mr Ashong’s services to undertake the re-demarcation exercise.
The names of the four were only given as Dawuda, who had allegedly recruited Ahmed, Aminu and Sly all from Nima in Accra.
