Surgical Theatre of Korle Bu back to normal

Accra, May 12, GNA – Work at the theatre of the Surgical Block of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has returned to normal after the heavy rains last Wednesday flooded the main theatre, disrupting service delivery. The rainstorm, which started in the afternoon, ripped off the roof of the theatre with water leaking into the main theatre.

Madam Rosina Dede, Matron of the Block, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview on Friday that the staff joined hands to mop the floor whilst valuable documents and equipment were retrieved to save them from being damaged.

She said 15 affected offices, including the main theatre, recovery ward, library, conference and seminar rooms were being put in order whilst work was being done on the roof.

Mr Mustapha Salifu, Public Relations Officer of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, said the management was assessing the extent of damage and steps were being taken to prevent a similar incident from occurring as the rainy season approaches.
